Visitar...

It’s one of the most beautiful places to visit in Portugal, full of secrets to discover.
For me, the perfect itinerary in a sunny day, is this:

Arrive late in the morning and walk the streets, with your camera ready: in every corner there are surprises to photograph and watch.
Stroll by the river side, starting at “Largo de Camões”, a large square with terraces and a large fountain, also very photogenic.
Follow to the “Avenida dos Plátanos” an open lane, surrounded by massive trees and enjoy the cool shadows and the fantastic view over the river and bridge.
Start the reverse route until you reach the “Alameda” Restaurant, just past the bridge. Here, try the traditional “rojões à Minhota” with “sarrabulho” rice, with a very chilled wine: the typical “vinho verde” from this region. To help digestion, cross the bridge and realize that after all they are two different bridges. Observe the church that welcomes us on the other side, and learn the legend of the Lethes river, presented by the statue of the Roman general.
Going along this side of the river (towards the more modern bridge), reach the pool area and visit the “International Gardens Festivall”, which is open this year, from May 26, to October 31. Visit, breathe and photograph each garden, vote for your favorite and head back.

For a refreshing stop, pause on the terraces by the fountain, back at “Largo de Camões” and enjoy the rest of the afternoon.
